MY STYLE IS SIMPLE, WHITE, TIMELESS & CLASSIC…
Every baby is different, some come in and are so excited to be in a new place and explore, the session is over in a heartbeat! Others take time to warm up!
Some babies prefer photos with mummy first and others are happy for her to be behind the camera in their line of sight.
I always take their lead. Never pushy, never forceful.
The best way to get the best photographs is to read them, give them space if they need it. Back off if it makes them settle faster.
Sometime when you arrive, I’ll give you very little direction and let you come in and settle yourselves down. Give them a chance to work out where they are and what’s going on. Let them find their feet and feel safe.
THEY DECIDE
In my experience trying to force a little one (especially under the age of 3) to do anything, usually just ends in tears and tantrums.
So yes, they run the show! I offer them toys, try making noises with instruments or I just let them be. That’s the secret to getting them looking just like you’re used to seeing them. Natural. Un-posed. Totally themselves.
It really is that simple.
And so are the images. Simple, classic, timeless. No distractions just your baby centre stage. The focus is them. The result is beautiful crisp images that capture them perfectly.
ON THE DAY
I like for both you and your baby to be happy & relaxed.
There is no pressure, my aim is for the session to be as relaxed as possible. Relaxed little ones result in lovely photos.
For little ones under 1 I have a selection of outfits that you’re welcome to use during the session. I also have a selection of beautiful wooden toys for them to play with which photograph beautifully.
For birthday sessions there will be balloons to play with and they’ll be welcome to move around the set just doing their thing whilst I capture them just as they are.
I may at times ask for you to pop them back onto to the set or move them back into the centre if they wander a little too far, but other than that we see how they go.
I think parents sometimes worry that I’ve not posed their little one enough or given enough direction but every single time the photographs are revealed I always get the response that I’ve captured their little one’s cheeky personality and expressions perfectly. That is my aim every single time. To capture them as they are so that you remember every little detail of how they were at this time.
Not some blank faces that look a little bit scared as they’re placed and posed and asked to smile. Just your little one, happy at ease and completely themselves.
The techy bit…
I’m a professional photographer with many years experience under my belt. I have a full-frame Canon 5D camera accompanied by a whole range of professional lenses. I shoot in my home studio which has been customised for the session I do. There is lighting equipment placed behind a curtain panel out of sight and a friendly home from home atmosphere for little ones to feel at ease in.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Not only am I well trained and experienced behind the lens I am also an experienced editor of photographs. I love the process of turning a photograph into artwork and my digital retouching ranges from covering up those dark circles under exhausted eyes to creating a piece of beautiful artwork that you’d love to have printed on canvas and hung around your home. I spend days after your initial shoot perfecting your images, a lot of love care and attention goes in to each and every image in your gallery.
