I remember watching as my bump grew, I was amazed by how my body had the ability to grow something and carry it contained within my ever expanding waistline over those 9 months.
I still look back on photographs of my bump and just how large it got in that final trimester. For many of us, it’s not something we’ll experience many times in our lives and it really is a miraculous time.
If you would like to capture your bump in all its glory and have wonderful images to help you remember just how amazing your body was during those final few weeks, then let me help you photograph the story of your tiny little one before they even arrive. These images make for a lovely keepsake and something your little one can look back on in years to come, knowing that this was where their wonderful life began.
The location of your maternity session is completely up to you. There are three options to choose from.
At your home | A maternity session in your own home is a lovely way to record natural relaxed images of you in your home environment. Photographs will most likely be taken by a window or on a bed/chair and I will help get you into flattering positions before recording your pregnancy memories.
Outdoors | You may prefer to head outdoors for your maternity shoot for some natural images taken in the beautiful outdoors.
My Home Studio | And of course you’re more than welcome to come to my home studio where you can either have a more formal styled portrait session or a more relaxed lifestyle session. The advantages of a studio session are that I have studio lighting set up and a plain backdrop to photograph you against.
What to Wear
I currently have a small selection of dresses available for you to wear during your maternity session. They are either stretchy (as above) or the fabric splits under the bust to allow for all size of bumps. For more petite ladies the fabric can be gathered & pinned at the back.
The dresses shown here are all available for your session.
Alternatively, you can wear whatever clothes that are most comfortable for you. A quick browse on Pinterest for Maternity photographs will give you plenty of ideas if you’re looking for some inspiration.
I know from personal experience that not all pregnant ladies glow, I also know that water retention, cellulite and stretch marks might be something that perhaps puts us off wanting to show off our bumps in front of a camera. If you would like photographs of your bump and you’d like for it to be on show but you’re worried about any of the above then please know that they are all fixable in Photoshop.
Of course, if you’d prefer to have your images showing all the natural changes just as they are that is perfectly ok too. I will ask if you would like some/no retouching at your session.
When to have your session
This again is completely up to you but most women choose to have their maternity photographs taken around 36-37 weeks pregnant, not leaving it too late for a surprise early arrival but allowing enough time for their bump to grow.
For those with due dates in 2018, I am currently offering a complimentary maternity session when you book your newborn session.
Following your maternity session, you will be invited to purchase digital images, prints and products which are all included in the pricing guide.
