Older Baby Photography Session
3.5 Weeks New
Yes, you’re definitely reading that correctly and yes I photograph babies who are older than 16 days.
I know it’s not common for baby photographers to photograph babies after a certain age but I found myself asking, well why not. The general idea is, there’s not a lot you can do with an older baby and they don’t photograph well until they’re sitting up. I definitely disagree!
I will be one of the first photographers to caution you that if you leave it too long your baby may not be able to get all curled up and posed, especially in props. But what if you don’t want props? And what if you don’t want to leave the house for the first few weeks or so after giving birth?
I honestly believe that babies of all ages are flipping gorgeous and they should be celebrated, remembered and photographed right the way through baby-hood. Well perhaps with the exception of when they’re super grumpy and teething and not at all wanting to settle – and who can blame them!
So I stepped outside of a comfort zone and started accepting older babies and this is what happened…
I mean how scrummy and utterly delicious is this little man? I could have cuddled him all day long!
I am so so glad that I got a chance to photograph him.
I am not going to lie to you and say that babies over 16 days old are the most settled and sleepy of babies. Which is why I keep everything simple. Once baby is settled and has found their comfy spot I set about recording all their gorgeous squidginess for you to remember forever.
If a baby will allow me to move and pose them I will but if they are having none of it I work around them so that you can have a wonderful gallery of beautiful portraits.
What is more beautiful and timeless than a baby of any age doing what they do best – being all cute and squidgy.
