Reflexologist, Cécile
A little while ago I met the most wonderful lady, Cécile, who was so incredibly passionate about what she does and how she can help mums-to-be, new mothers and babies, I just had to ask her if she would help me share what she does with the wonderful women I get to meet every week as a baby photographer.
Could you tell us a bit about you and how you became a reflexologist?
I’m Cécile, I’m married with 2 wonderful children (12 and almost 9 years old).
I’m a passionate, fully qualified reflexologist, Baby Reflexology practitioner and Teacher, Mindfulness teacher and practices Oriental Facial Therapy with Facial Acupuncture. I have the passion to support physically and mentally women to become happier and healthier in themselves with the help of Reflexology, Facial Acupuncture and Mindfulness.
I first encountered reflexology at the age of 10 years old when I was helping my Auntie to change my cousin’s nappies. She taught me a couple of reflexology techniques which stayed with me forever. It is only until I had my first child, seeing how powerful and effective reflexology was on my baby, I decided to learn reflexology properly. I was mainly aiming for a personal development and something fun to do despite having young children at the time but my reflexology training changed the course of my life when I realised how much I could help and support women and babies in a wide range of symptoms. I since have been on extensive training where I became qualified in multiple disciplines. I was trained by some well-known therapists and founders of reflexology which revolutionise reflexology.
I had heard of reflexology but I had no idea about all the many ways in which you can help new and expectant mums. Could you tell us about the services you offer and how you can help new mums & mums-to-be?
Reflexology is a gentle therapy which is getting more known to the public but still understated in helping new mums and mums-to-be. Science is slowly backing us up but there is not yet enough research and funds to show how much Reflexology is helping general well-being. However, there is scientific evidence showing
“women who have had regular treatments during their pregnancy have shorter first stage labour and less pain killers”
I am specialised in supporting women from conception, pregnancy and beyond by offering a wide range of specialised reflexology techniques helping with sciatica, nausea, painful periods, migraine, insomnia…
Reflexology is also a fantastic therapy to help with stress, anxiety, depression. I often use Mindfulness to support women in my practice allowing them to have an understanding of how they process thoughts and what trigger their anxiety. I also run Mindfulness Workshop for Motherhood.
I also practice reflexology combined with Moxibustion Therapy (Heat Therapy) for breech babies.
I run baby reflexology classes in my practice or in the comfort of your own home with your friends or on the 1:1 basis. Helping parents to soothe, bond and nurture their babies. This is a gentle way to learn how to support your baby discomfort as the techniques can be used anywhere and anytime. Those classes are very popular and I usually run a 3 week course with a maximum of 5-6 mums.
I practice Oriental Facial Therapy which includes Facial Acupuncture and also Facial Reflexology the Bergman Method which has regularly been featured in the press and most recently in Tatler, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Cosmopolitan. If you feel like you want some ‘me time’ outside motherhood and come back with a beautiful glow on your face this is the treatment to have!
